Box for Mum

My mum, who is 80, still plays tennis once a week!!!

For their Christmas lunch they are exchanging Secret Santa gifts so she asked me to create a box to put her gift in.

I made a hinged box to her specifications, with a window in the top.

Last Class Christmas Treats

I held my last official class for the year this past week so everyone received a little treat.

I have shown many covered chocolates on my blog before but I love making them...they look so cute!

I packaged up a pair of wrapped chocolates in a cello bag with a topper decorated with the Christmas Collectibles punched image.  I am loving this Season of Style DSP, especially the full range in the 12 x 12 pack.

Casing the Customer

I love it when customers see the potential in a design or a pattern and create their own take on an idea.

We made four gift tags where the participants had four DSPs patterns to choose from using the Season of Style paper stack.  They also had Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler accents.  One customer did some swapping with her neighbours to get four of the same pattern DSP and all Cherry Cobbler accents and came up with this:

Isn't the Cherry Cobbler a hit with the Crumb Cake pattern?

These are the ones I made up using the leftover pieces.

Stamps:  Jolly Bingo Bits (retired)
Card:  Season of Style DSP, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler
Tools:  3/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, Corner Rounder Punch
Accessories:  Cherry Cobbler 1" Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine

Library Freebee

Every now and then I run a free mini class at some of the local libraries. Using Christmas Collectibles, we made matching card and gift tag.

The design was CASEd and tweaked from Di Gibbs.

The ladies loved the colour combination of the Winter Frost Specialty DSP and Pool Party.

There's still plenty of time to get your orders in for Christmas crafts!  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone me on 07 5576 5469.

Little Bits of DSP

I am loving the Season of Style DSP and have been using it a lot for classes and projects which has meant that there are lots of little bits left over.  I have teamed it up with Stampin' Up!s Christmas Collectibles.

So I came up with this card.

Pretty easy.

Stamps:  That's the Ticket, Christmas Collectibles
Card:  Whisper White, Season of Style DSP
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Tools:  Christmas Ornament Punch, Ticket Duo Builder Punch
Accessories:  Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Dimensionals, Basic Rhinestone

Quick Goodbye

This is a quick and easy technique to use on cards to give them a nice finish.

I was asked to make a few Goodbye cards for a workplace and this is one of them.  I have already passed the others on so can't show you the variety of designs and colours but they all followed this idea.

The sentiment was computer generated.  I then stamped the images from Simply Stars randomly on some Whisper White in various shades of blue.
I then ruled a pencil border around the edge of the card and traced over it with pen.  By stopping the line just before each image I was able to integrate the line with the stars for a simple overall effect.    My matching at the corners was a little dodgy on this one!
The same idea can be used with other images, such as flowers or doilies.  It's a really easy way to get quick results.

More Boxes

These two boxes are available for purchase in our Annual Catalogue and Holiday Mini.

They make gift giving super easy and they can be prettied up or used plain.

I love love love that these Tag a Bag Boxes can be put through the Big Shot to give them texture.

This design was inspired by a pic of a creation by Diane Dimich which I found on our demonstrator website where we share ideas.  The sleeve has been run through the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.

  • Choose an embossing folder with plenty of space - detailed ones end up warping the acetate.
  • The folder is not long enough for the whole sleeve, so you need to emboss from each end separately. If you don't match up perfectly, the join can be hidden by the belly band.
  • Some shimmering touches can be added with a Silver Glimmer Paper, the Frosted Finishes Embellishments and Basic Rhinestones.
  • We added some shredded cardstock in co-ordinating colours.

Stamps: Festive Flurry
Card:  Bermuda Bay, Winter Frost DSP, Whisper White, Pool Party, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink:  Bermuda Bay
Tools:  Big Shot, Modern Mosaic TEF, Itty Bity Shapes Punch Pack
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Silver Basics Buttons (retired), Tag a Bag Gift Boxes

Our other box is an altered Decorative Window box from the Holiday Mini.

These boxes already have a clear window with a white decorative frame around it.  We added some DSP and a stamped image.

  • The circular window is a wonderful feature as it can showcase what is inside the box.  Click HERE for a previous post which shows this.
  • To decorate the top of the box, we cut a square of DSP and cut the circle using a the Circles Framelits.  Too easy.
  • Make a stack of these BEFORE the Christmas rush and then you can easily pack some festive treats for gifts and visits.

Stamps: Scentsational Season
Card:  Season of Style DSP, Whisper White
Ink:  Baked Brown Sugar
Tools:  Big Shot, Holiday Collection Framelits (retired), Circle Framelits

Pretty Boxes

At class this past week we made boxes.  Some from scratch, some altered from the catalogue.

Our first project was to create a net or template for a chocolate.

This cute little hinged box was made to fit round a Kit Kat.  This is a really cute idea for an inexpensive gift at Christmas or anytime.  We also wrapped the chocolate to pretty it up.

I made these same style little boxes for Halloween treats too.

The second 'from scratch' box used a separate top and bottom and was a little bigger.

There's a whole variety of tags to be found in the Very Merry Tags set in our Holiday Catalogue.

Check back for my next post to see the two altered boxes.

Baby Cards

I was asked to make some baby cards in a hurry recently.

I have sung the praises of the Owl Builder Punch on many occasions, but did you know you can use it for baby clothes??

This little jump suit is made using the vest from the owl punch.  Just snip a 'v' in the bottom to create the pants legs.

Stamps:  Itty Bitty Banners
Card:  Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Ink:  Pear Pizzazz
Tools:  Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Clouds (non SU!), Owl Builder Punch
Accessories:  Linen Thread

Did you know I run card making classes at my home?  If you live on the Gold Coast, you might like to come along.  I run regular classes each month and can add you to my mailing list!  Call me on 07 55 765 469 or email wheatonanna@hotmail.com

Some simple Christmas cards and a blast from the past

The bold prints from the Season of Style DSP are wonderful for simple cards.  The DSP does all the work!

These are the four prints to choose from in the DSP Stack.  And here are the card individually...

These images are lined up using the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  For added effect, stamp the 'little' on a piece of scrap using contrasting ink, snip and adhere.

These presents have been coloured individually using our markers.  This stamp does double duty!  It would work fine all year round for birthday cards.

Stamps:  Wishing You, Merry Little Christmas
Card:  Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Season of Style, DSP Stack
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Tools: Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits

Any of this items can be purchased at my online store or by emailing me wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phoning me 07 55 765 469.

And....the blast from the past.

I have been helping my sister move house and she came across this card which I had sent her many years ago, before Stampin' Up!

Those were the days when you had to wander from one place to another in the hope that you would find stamps that co-ordinated and a patterned paper that would go with your other patterned paper.  Thanks goodness for Stampin' Up!s wonderful co-ordinated range!
