My Swap

I am back from a fantastic 3 day convention in Melbourne which I attended with my team member and buddy Angela.

One of the optional parts of Convention is Swaps.  Make a card front or other stamping idea as many times as you want and swap it with other demonstrators.  Make 20, get 20 in return...make 50 get 50.  I have had some shrink plastic waiting to be used and so I decided to make some scissor charms.   They were light, easy to pack and easy to carry.  (Sometimes your arm is dead by the end of swapping!)

Here is what they looked like packaged.

And here are a few of the variations....

I had put off using the shrink plastic as I thought it had to be done in the oven but I discovered that the Heat Gun does the trick.  Stamp in Staz On, punch out and shrink!

  • The smaller flowers are stamped and punched using the Flower Shop stamp set and Pansy Punch.  These two products are available in a bundle for 15% off.
  • The mobile phone lanyards are from Ebay.
Thanks for stopping by!  The product details are below.

Vellum

One of my customers showed me a card similar to this that she had bought at a market stall.

Edited to add:  I have since found out that the original creator of this card is Linda Higgins.  She showed us the card at Convention!

I loved the vellum flower and thought the design perfect for my velum class this week.  The card I CASEd was in bright colours but I chose to use Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

  • The card is cut using the biggest die in the Ovals Collections Framelits.  I folded the cardstock in half and cut through the two layers on the fold.
  • I used the next sized oval for the white layer.
  • The flower is created with white embossing powder which comes up so beautifully on the vellum.
  • Crumb Cake seam binding adds the finishing touches.

Mixed Bunch and Blossom Punch

I have been a poor blogger lately so I'll post a few pics at once here.  These are some cards we made at my recent class using the Blossom Punch and the Mixed Bunch stamp set.  These are a great combination and such a versatile set for a beginning or experienced stamper.

This was our first card with simple layering in Pear Pizzazz and Blush Blossom.  I love lots of white on a card.

Our second card used some vellum to add layering to the card.  The vellum is punched out using the Modern Label Punch which fits perfectly with the petals of the Blossom Punch.  This was one of the clever tricks we were shown at Convention.

And the last card we made was a little more detailed - there are loads of variations of this card in blogland.  The punch is used in the negative and the DSP shows through.  The centre of the flower is from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.

Autumn-Winter Mini Play

Last Saturday I held an Australia's Biggest Afternoon Tea and Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue play.  There were 11 ladies there in person and quite a few there in spirit.  We raised a total of $140 for the Cancer Council and everyone went home with some cute Make and Takes.  Here is one of the cards we made.

I saw this design on Splitcoast Stampers and simplified it for the day.  It was a different approach to stamp the flower in black ink.

I also had a sample in my displays of the same card with a few more steps in it.

Thanks so much to all the ladies who attended and contributed their time and money to such a worthy cause.  It was a fun afternoon.

It matches the Mixed Bunch stamp set which has three flower designs and three co-ordinating centres, making it super easy to assemble a beautiful card in moments.
