Turtle and Friends

 A quick post for you showing you a cute card using the Turtle and Friends Bundle by Stampin' Up!®

We have so many fantastic dies with stitching in them.  Myrtle (as I like to call her) is created using paper piecing and the Hand Penned DSP.

Behind her is the Stitched Greenery die which is fabulous!  Her clouds are from the Give it a Whirl dies.

To be honest, when I saw those clouds in a sample I wanted the Give it a Whirl dies just for the clouds!

Bokeh Technique Class

Did you know I run classes in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast?  We play with all sorts of different Stampin' Up!®  products.  Last week I ran a technique class on Bokeh.  It's a beautiful technique that adds a little extra something something to a card. 

We explored three different backgrounds.  This one was watercolouring on some of our watercolouring paper.

To create the Bokeh effect, we punched holes of various sizes in acetate. (And a tip:  it's much easier to punch the holes than die cut them.)

Then we used a dauber 

And Whisper White Craft Ink to daub through the holes.

This beautiful butterfly card was 'bokefied' in some DSP background.

Every technique class comes with a page of tips.

· Hold stencil and paper still while sponging

· Lift the stencil up and down vertically - don’t slide across the project

· Ensure you sponge to the edge of the circle/shape

· The less times you re-ink the dauber, the lighter your image becomes

· Keep the larger images lighter… the smaller images darker

· Start with the bigger circles first and make sure some circles go off the edge of your cardstock

· Overlap circles

· Odd numbers are good - especially of the larger images.  When we see even numbers we tend to add them up

 Our last card was a beauty and the ladies loved the mix of inking the background, adding the Craft ink and adding the seaweed cut outs and the shark doo doo doo doo doo.

Elegantly Said and the Elegant Punch

 I have had a week of regrouping after our team ran a charity day on Saturday of last weekend.  Everyone who came received the Elegantly Said stamp set as part of their kit.

It was a fun creative day where we made 8 projects.  Scroll through to see them.

Also a CASE.  These Simply Classic Treat Boxes are new in our Packaging Basics on page 137.

The ladies loved this card - white embossing on Evening Evergreen, one of our new In Colors.  Such a stunning contrast.

Simple stamping and some punch magic.  I also CASEd this design.  It was inspired by Hattie Nelson in the U.S..

Love Always Treat Boxes are retiring!  These are like biiig matchboxes and such fun to decorate.  For these we used the In Color Shimmer Vellum.  So sparkly!!

Gift Card holder/money wallet!?  Looks so lovely in the Simply Elegant DSP.

And everyone loves a fancy fold.  Once again the DSP is the star!  A matching envelope completes this project.

Stampin' Up!s Basic Border Dies

 I love a product that goes with everything and I can store in my 'keep forever' draw.  The Annual Catalogue is choc full of exciting new products but this week I have been playing with the Basic Border Dies.

The set costs $50 and consists of 6 borders that are all stitched!!  Even better - both sides of the cuts are stitched so you can use both pieces of your paper strip once cut.  These are they!!

And here's some cards.  The Gorgeous Grape and White ones are made with the traditional zig zag border and I had a fantastic time playing with patterns.

For an elegant touch I uses the scallopy zig zag with black and white.  This was actually the first card I made and then I was hooked!

And then I played with off setting the pattern and LOVED the diamond pattern that resulted!  Cool huh?
