Soda Pop Tops

Stampin' Up's Soda pop Tops are one of the unusual items in the new Seasonal catalogue and they are sooo fun to play with.

You can use them as is or you can squish 'em through the Big Shot.  See, told you you need one.

  • A squished Soda Pop Top makes it more post friendly.
  • The 1" circle punch is the perfect fit to pop out a circle of DSP.
  • The Hexagon Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is a great option to add a bit of texture to this card.
Card:  Whisper White, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Sycamore Street DSP
Tools:  Big Shot for squishing, Apothecary Accents Framelits, 1" Circle Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, Soda Pop Tops

I combined Print Poetry DSP with the Pretty Petites Sale-a-Bration stamp set.

I don't think I have shown these before...

Lots of fun to make...

Just Over a Week Left

Sale-a-Bration is ending in a little over a week.  One of my favourite freebees is the Sycamore Street DSP.

My best cardmaking buddy came over today and we spent the day making cards.  I am filling a card order at the moment and one of the requests was for a 30th birthday card.

The bright colours of Sycamore Street were the perfect choice.  And with free co-ordinating ribbon, how could I go wrong?

Once again the colour choices are made for me.  And as this is a special occasion card, I did a fancy inside.

  • When my ladies make a mistake at my card classes I tell them: cover it up or cut it off.  (In the nicest possible way!) There is almost always a way to fix mistakes.  This card was not originally designed with the butterfly.  Once I had finished the card I accidentally dropped it and it landed face down on an inked stamp, leaving a tiny, but very noticeable mark on the white of the card and on the DSP.  To remedy the problem - the tiny butterflies are adhered over the ink mark and an extra strip of DSP had been added to cover the other mark.  Easy.
Card:  Pool Party, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP
Tools:  Big Shot, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (retired), Beautiful Wings Embosslits
Accessories:  Sycamore Street Ribbon

Last but not least

This is the last of the three boy cards we made in last week's class.

The layout might look familiar as I used the same format for this card in a previous post.

  • The Mini Brads (200 in a pack!) were easy to line up using the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and the Paper Piercing Tool
  • Don't you love the sharp image that the firm foam stamp pads give?
  • Colour co-ordination is done for you with our DSPs.  I started with the DSP then picked out two of the 'boy' colours from the pattern.  Co-ordination done!

As I designed the cards for the class, I really wanted to stick with brights colours for young boys.  The spotty pattern from Sycamore Street suited perfectly.  This DSP is FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $100 order.  Don't forget that Sale-a-Bration ends on the 22nd of March!

Stamps:  Word Play
Card:  Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade
Ink:  Island Indigo
Tools:  Paper Piercer, Star Punch (retired)
Accessories:  Mini Brads

Notecards in a Box

This was one of my recent classes.  It seems that once a year we seem to get around to making a set of notecards and a box to put them in.  They are so much fun to make and they make great presents.  We used the Patterned Occasions Sale-a-Bration set.

There are five images in the stamp set, so we made five cards.

Each one had a matching envelope and a little embellishment on the design.  We used the DSP Paper Pattern Stacks in the In Colours.

The box design was based on a cigarette box.  My sister and I nutted out the dimensions.  (Well my sister did most of the nutting out!)

See the contrasting panel inside?   And the contents are much healthier than cigarettes!

My six pack a day habit...

Once classes were over I made up the extras that were left and I ended up doing a set using the Print Poetry DSP.  This would have been lovely for class but I would have had to buy sooo many packs of the DSP to make multiple sets of cards.

It's a Wrap!

I recently bought some Kraft wrapping paper in various designs.  The 'male' pattern I chose was images of bicycles in black and white.

Of course there needs to be a matching card.

  • I used black Stazon ink for crisp clean penny farthings.
  • I then used Versamark and White Embossing powder to create the contrasting images.
  • Silver brads complete the look (I love the look of black and silver!)

Here's the card tucked into the present.  Notice that I put a pleat into the wrapping paper (thanks Pinterest) to hold the card.

More Pretty Petites

I saw these notecards on Dawn Griffith's blog and thought the design was a little different.

Instead of the traditional open at the side, this has a little flap over the top that tucks into the sentiment.

I used the Print Poetry DSP and co-ordinating colours.

  • The card base measures 3" x 7" and is scored at 1" and 4" measuring along the long side, using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool
  • The coloured square on the front measures 2 3/4" squared and the rectangle on the flap measures 3/4" x 2 3/4".
  • The sentiment is popped up on a dimensional which is stuck towards the bottom half of the back of the punched shape so that the flap can tuck underneath.
  • These are super easy to put together!
Stamps:  Pretty Petites
Card:  Whisper White, Print Poetry DSP, Melon Mambo, Marina Mist
Ink:  Melon Mambo, Summer Starfruit, Night of Navy
Tools:  Petite Curly Label Punch (this punch is a SAB item but will also be available for purchase after SAB), Simply Scored Scoring Tool

Too (Two) Easy Pretty Petites

Is this the quickest card on record?

I love the Sale-a-Bration set Pretty Petites.  As the name suggests the images are tiny.  The little set of brackets caught my eye and I made this super quick card.

The clearmount version of this set made it easy to centre the image.

Lots of clean white space means the image can't be anything but the focus.

The flower from the Itty Bitty Punch set is the perfect size.  I have used this punch so much I am wearing the image off the top of the punch!

I have been busy preparing for my launch on Saturday so keep checking in for some pics of the cards we made!

Corner of Sycamore and Madison

Two of our upcooming SAB freebees are Sycamore Street DSP and the Madison Avenue stamp set.

What happens when they meet??

A super easy card that looks fab!

The DSP and stamp set match perfectly to give a completeness to the design.

See how I have reflected the gradations of the DSP in the leaves of the flower?  Ink up your stamp by stamping it in the lightest ink first then moving it off the next coloured ink pad a little so that some of the lighter ink remains.  Move it up even further for the next colour.  Easy!

The centre of the flower has been stamped separately and then punched out using an Itty Bitty Shapes punch.  I am wishing I put a rhinestone in the middle now that I look at it!

Stamps:  Madison Avenue (SAB)
Card:  Island Indigo, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Summer Starfruit, Old Olive, Garden Green
Tools: Itty Bitty Shapes Punches

Don't forget that Sale-a-Bration starts on the 22nd of January.  You can get freebees simply by placing a $100 order or even more freebees by hosting a party!  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com for more details or...watch this space.

Mojo Monday Sketch 275

I  know it's actually Wednesday but I have entered a challenge over at Mojo Monday.

A new sketch is posted every Monday and the ideas people come up with are amazing.  Here is the sketch.

And here is my card:

  • I managed five different colours on the same stamp by using my Stamp n Write markers applied directly to the stamp.
  • Don't you love how the DSP reflects the pattern of the cupcake base?
  • The Polka Dot Embossing Folder echoes the spots on the top of the cupcake.

It's great fun to challenge yourself once in awhile!  Make sure you check out the other entries over at Mojo Monday.

Stamps:  Patterned Occasions (SAB)
Card:  Sycamore Street DSP, Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Real Red
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Basic Black, Early Espresso
Tools:  Big Shot, Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Heart to Heart Punch (retired)

A little more sentimentality

After five days of panic I have now found a round-a-bout way to load photos on my blog again.  Phew!  Sorry for the delay.

Here are a couple more cards designed in the same style as my last post, using the other two images from Feeling Sentimental.  These are based on a design by Teneale Williams.

Add some texture to the bottom panels by running it through the the Houndstooth Embossing Folder (thanks Teneale).

Those water splotches are from French Foliage and add an aged feel to the card, to match the sentimental images.

I achieved the distressed look by running my fingernail along the edge of the card stock.  Keep playing with it and rolling the edges and corners between thumb and forfinger.  Use a sponge to add Crumb Cake ink to the edges.

The phone booth panels on the left are stamped on scrap then stamped out with the 1" square punch and cut in half.  Their rectangular shape reflect the panels in the phone booth.

Feeling Sentimental is just one of the fantastic products you can get FREE during Sale-a-Bration.
With every $100 ordered, you can choose one of 19 products for FREE!  Starts January 22nd.

Thanks for stopping by!

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede
