Faux Tiling

Yesterday's class was Faux Tiling.  Feedback from the end of last year was that my customers wanted to learn some more techniques, so that's what we are going to do.

We made four cards using four different tiling techniques.

For this card, the white cardstock is scored then stamped on - this gives the effect of grouting lines through the picture. We are getting a lot of use out of this Butterfly Basics stamp set.

I grew up in an old Queenslander and used to lie in bed at night counting the pressed metal squares on the ceiling of my bedroom.  They were white/cream but this silver card still reminds me of those squares.

We used silver cardstock, run through an embossing folder then punched out with a 1" square punch.

Next was our patient card - we took our time sponging this carefully to achieve this tiled or quilted effect.  This card looks stunning in a darker colour but if you are a novice sponger, I recommend using a light colour till you get the hang of it.

And lastly was our clean and simple kitchen tile.  This was made using the Awesomely Artistic stamp set.  This is another of those sets where you can build image over image, but we kept this simple.

The dragonfly 'tile' is made using clear embossing powder.  We covered the square with Versamark ink then clear embossing powder which we heat set.  Once cooled we repeated the process twice more to create a think 'glaze'.  Can you see it looking a little shiney in the pic below?

More chocolates

Thank goodness for Aldi and their easy to wrap choccies.  I just wish they would come out with something the same size and shape as Hershey Nuggets!

Hello and Goodbye

A retiring product, a sticking around product and a new product sneak peek.  Covering all the bases??

The beautifully shaped Labels Collection Framelits are retiring and are marked down to the bargain price of $22.98.

I have had quite a few ladies order them and I wanted give them an idea of another way to use the shapes.  So they each get one of these.

It's the Labels Framelit shape scored with two parallel lines then wrapped around a chocolate.

Sticking around are the gorgeous stamp sets Flower Shop and Flowering Flourishes.

 

And a tiny sneak peak is that little leaf of green in our new In Colour Cucumber Crush.

 

I love making these little gifts - a great way to say thank you in a special but inexpensive way.

Clean and Simple Flowering Flourishes

I have promised to show some Holiday Catalogue products but I have been distracted with a new order.

Flowering Flourishes is in the Annual Catalogue and I now have it, thanks to a lovely reward from Stampin' Up!  (It's a great company and offers all sorts of incentives to do well!)

The images in this set are so elegant.  I love them.  I used the smallest of the three on this clean and simple card.

I used three colours of Stampin' Write markers to achieve the multi coloured image - just colour straight onto the stamp.

The tag shape is from Apothecary Accents with one curved end trimmed off.

Simple!
