Amazing Party

Today was my boy's birthday party.  He is protective of my love of papercraft when it comes to making things for his friends.  He likes what I do but knows that most 12 year old boys won't notice the effort.  "They'll just rip it open" or "They won't appreciate it" are his comments.

But I had to go to a bit of trouble...

Here is the invite which Zac had permission to 'alter.'

We had the party at the local park with a soccer match, frisbee throwing etc.  We are big fans of The Amazing Race so I created our own little version.

The clues sent them running all over the park.

And the winning team won these (Instead of a trip for two from Travelocity, but they didn't seem to mind.)

Here are the tags for the party bags, made using the Amazing Birthday stamp set.

 

 

And pegged on the bags.  I had run the bottom part of the bags through the Big Shot using the Chevron Textured Embossing Folder.

Amazingly Ridiculous

This set screams FUN and begs for bright colours!

I used Sweet Taffy DSP and colours from the Brights family.  Here is the girl one.

Along with the boy one.  I love how you can stamp in different colours and overlay them.

Make Today Ridiculously Amazing

Here's another sneak peek.  We were given this stamp set at Convention.

I love a sentiment that can be used for a number of occasions.  'Happy Birthday' is a very useful sentiment but has its limitations to...well...birthdays. 

This sentiment could be used for a whole bunch of things - birthdays, graduations, good lucks or just a darn good excuse to send a card to someone. 

Can you spot the new In Color?

 

 

That's Mossy Meadow for the card base and the ink for TODAY.  It's kinda lovely and a very rich colour.

 

• I roughed up the edge of my cardstock with the blade of my scissors.
• Burlap ribbon adds to the rustic feel.  Good news:  both it and the Arrows embossing folder have made it into the new catalogue.
• All my stamping was done on Whisper White which looked to stark once the card was finished so I sponged over it with Soft Suede ink to dirty it up.
• I checked my Colour Coach which suggested Night of Navy and Bermuda Bay to go with the new Mossy Meadow.

 

I grungied this card up a bit to make it masculine and thought I might try a feminine version in a future post.
