Shimmer Paint Techniques.

There are lots of uses for Stampin Up's ® Shimmer Paint, and they create  stunning effect on cards and papers.
We had great fun during class this week getting inky with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

The cards above use embossing folders to create the raised areas.  We poured a drop of Shimmer Paint onto scrap plastic and used daubers to pick it up and sponge it gently over the pattern.  The results are stunning.

Frost White Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol were combined for these two designs.

With the feathers above and the peacock below, we used a piece of Shimmer White cardstock, and coloured the piece with aqua painters and a selection of inks to create a blotchy background. Once the sheet was filled with colour we used a spritzer filled with 2-3 drops of Shimmer Paint and topped up with rubbing alcohol. Using quick hard sprays, we covered the small sheet with Shimmer magic!! Make sure the paper is dry!  Then used the Detailed Peacock Dies to  cut out the feathers and peacock.

The card below used the beautiful Very Versailles Stamp set. For this mother of pearl or marble technique we took a small piece of whisper white card, scrunched up some cling film and dabbed Shimmer Paint  across the card.  The wrinkles of the cling film provide an uneven effect that looks like marble and shines beautifully.  Once dry,  we used a sponge to add colour to the base of the card. Images from the Very Versailles stamp set were added.

The last card was a Christmas card created by adding a couple of drops of Pretty Peacock re-inker into the spritzer we had already used for the peacock/feather cards. The doily acted as a mask and the rest of the card was covered with a beautiful shimmery layer.  Very Christmasy!!

Fabulous Foils

Last week I ran a class using Stampin' Up!® foils and all sorts of great techniques.

The ladies loved it.

Two cards explored the Tarnished Foil technique where we built up layers of black StazOn and Copper and Gold Embossing Folder.  The results are amazing and work so well with the Garage Gears Thinlits.

We used the same technique on the second card using Copper Foil and also the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.

Our last card used the Black Ice Technique.  This is a surprisingly easy technique where you drag the StazOn over the foil to achieve fine black stripes.  The tree was also stamped in black StazOn.  The last step is to swipe Versamark in the same direction and sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder.  When you heat is, that's where the magic happens - fine icy stripes show up on your foil! Stunning.
