Market Goodies

I was very busy last week making things for a local market. 

 

 

These Ferrero cards always look cute in any pattern of DSP.   They showcase the colour and pattern combinations beautifully.

 



The tutorial for these can be found on Becky Roberts' blog under Project Tutorials.

And of course you can't go past the ol' Rudolph Nose Repair Kit.  This idea can be found....on everyone's blogs.

There are plenty of hidden gems in our catalogues and one of them is these skinny cello bags - great for packaging M & Ms, Smarties, licorice sticks etc.

Tie them up top with a ribbon and add a stamped greeting and you have an inexpensive but fun gift.

 

 

 

I have never had a huge success at any market and didn't sell very much.  These goodies are now in the staff room at my husband's work.  Maybe I'll have better luck there!

Sophie's Wreath

 

Sophie Zadeh from Stampin' Up! showed us a beautiful wreath at Brisbane's Heartfelt Event.

I loved the mix of Cherry Cobbler with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.  Very earthy.  So I set out to make my own.

 

 

I managed to find a wreath form at Riot which didn't need covering as the natural branches looked perfect behind the flowers.

 



I then made a variety of flowers, 'in front of the tele' as Sophie suggested, combining different sizes and shapes run through the Big Shot.  Then to give myself an idea of arrangement of sizes and colours, I sat them on the wreath before using any glue.

 

I had about five of the biggest size flowers so I placed them first and then arranged the medium flowers around, avoiding similar flowers side by side.  I saved some little flowers for the end, to fill in spaces once the flowers were glued.

Once all the flowers were glued on, using a hot glue gun, I finished each one off with one of our wooden buttons.  (A bit of glue oozing through the holes here and there!)

 

 

All up, it was quite a quick project.  We'll hang it on the front door come December.

Mum and Dad's card

I showed you my first take on Mum and Dad's card a few posts ago.  Here's what I ended up with.

They wanted the traditional Christmas colours of green and red, so I made thirty cards, 15 on a Cherry Cobbler base and 15 on Gumball Green.

 

And..I had a Happy Christmas stamp all along!

 

Don't be afraid to mix up colours - the Festival of Prints uses Lucky Limeade as its green, but this worked fine against the Gumball Green background.  Also, the neutral colour in the DSP is Very Vanilla but I chose to stamp on Whisper White as the prints I chose to use had minimal Very Vanilla in them.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Event in Brisbane II

Part of the fun of Heartfelt was looking at everyone's nametags.  We were encouraged to create our own nametags for the day.

I started off planning four owls in a row but when it came time to do the 'a' I went for something a little different.

The owl punch makes such cute brooches - you need four layers of card stock stuck together with Tombow.  Once the top layer is embellished, cover it with Crystal Effects and leave to dry.  Then turn the brooch over and cover the back with Crystal Effects.  Sit your brooch back in the Crystal Effects and it will set as the liquid dries.

And here is another of my cards.  This was to show brayering using the masking technique to create mountains at the bottom.  I saw a desig similar to this on Debra Currier's blog but added the brayering effects.

I love the First Edition newsprint DSP but for this card, I decided to make my own.

I googled the verse from the Bible then cut and pasted it to print out on Whisper White.  In the end, it wasn't much of the verse that showed but it still added a nice little detail.

The Whisper White against the Midnight Muse create a crisp contrast and an alternative to traditional Christmas colours.

The Glimmer Paper adds a festive touch.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Event in Brisbane

This year Stampin' Up! experiemented with a new format for their whole day event in Brisbane.  Demonstrators and customers were invited to a day of fun and creativity.  We had demonstrations, make and takes, hundreds of samples and products to play with. 

The theme was Heartfelt, and one of the activities was to make a decoration for Aaron's Christmas tree and in return we received a gift of a beautiful stamp.

We saw demonstrations of some wonderful Heartfelt gifts and decorations.  This wreath, made by Sophie, who works for SU! is on my CASE list - started making my flowers last night.

I was priveleged to be asked to work at the brayer table for Product Playground, along with Zena Kennedy and Genelle Little.  It seems many people are interested in the mysteries of the brayer as we were flat out the whole day and even ran out of paper. 

Zena is very artistic and loves experimenting with different media.  She made up this wonderful sample book for people to leaf through.  AND she was kind enough to lend it to me to take home!

As part of our responsibilities at Product Playground we were asked to make some samples.

I love the Snowflake Soiree set we were asked to use and I came up with this card.

I feel so priveleged to be part of this company and participate in these inspiring events.  We are so excited that Convention will be in Brisbane next year for three days of creativity.

I'll post some more information about Heartfelt soon!  Would love to show you my make and takes but I have only taken them...not 'maken' them....yet.
