Stampin' Blends Club Part 2

Thursday 7th March Class

Stampin' Blends

This was our second class of Blends Club and we explored light sources and giving objects shape through shading.

For the first card we used the Varied Vases Stamp Set, colouring the vases with the Light and Dark Old Olive. The flowers were coloured in with Highland Heather Light and Dark, and Pool Party.

It's important to use Memento Ink for stamped images when using the Blends.  We saturated each of the images with the lighter colour blend then applied the darker colour the daker areas then blended with the light colour.

For the second card, we used the Tea Together Stamp Set from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue, and coloured the teapot and tea cup in Light and Dark Pool Party. The flowers were coloured in Highland Heather and Old Olive was used for the leaves. The backing used the Sale-a-bration embossing folder  - Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions.

Both the Country Floral Embossing Folder and the Tea Time Framelits Dies are FREE during Sale-a-Bration.

We still have two more Blends classes in my series of 4 to learn about the many techniques for these beautiful Stampin' Blends. They are so versatile and completely change the characteristics of many of the stamp sets.

I run regular classes on the Gold Coast for these techniques and many more.  Beginner, casual and avid crafters are all welcome!  Contact me for more information.

Black is the New Black

Tuesday 5th March Class

Black is the New Black

Black makes a STUNNING background behind coloured images, and this class highlighted the use of Stampin Up ® Embossing Folders and a pop of colour on each black card.  It's something a little different!

Each card consisted of Basic Black card base then an embossed layer, also in black.

Our masculine card utilised the Subtles Embossing Folder, and the Garage Gears Thinlits from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue, cut out in Crushed Curry, Real Red and Tranquil Tide cardstock. The sentiment came from the Geared Up Garage Stamp set.

The second card used the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder (which is very festive!) with the Sweetest Things Stamp Set for the jar, jelly beans and sentiment.

We cut the jar using one of the three jar shapes in the Jar of Sweets Framelits.
The brightly coloured How Sweet It Is DSP, is the coloured stripey strip, and we used Stampin Blends in Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Lovely Lipstick, Bermuda Bay to colour the jelly beans.  Cute!!

For the next card we used the beautiful Painted Seasons Stamp Set part of the 2nd release of Sale-a-bration.
This stamp set coordinates with a beautiful Painted Seasons DSP, but for this card we used the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, another 2nd release Sale-a bration item.
We used Lovely Lipstick ink for the flowers and Call Me Clover ink for the leaves. The extra pop of colour came from the Lovely Lipstick cardstock backing the sentiment.

For the last card we used the Tropical Chic Stamp Set and Tropical Thinlits, which sat over the Layered Leaves Textured Embossing Folder.
The  flower is stamped in Melon Mambo ink with Shaded Spruce cardstock for the cut out leaf and , Lemon Lime Twist for the stamped leaves.

Jar of Love + Painted Season + Gingham Gala DSP

My focus this week is JARS!

Jar of Love in the Annual Catalogue is one of my favourite sets - so much so that I have bought it a second time because my first set has been used to death.

I don't know why but I am drawn to jars.

These come with matching Framelits which makes the set even dinkier in my opinion!

And because I used the Gingham Gala DSP, I had to make one in each colour.....

The flowers are stamped with one of the beautiful images from the Painted Seasons stamp set which is bundled with DSP for a SAB freebee.

The Framelits for the Painted Season stamp set will be available for purchase in March along with framelits for a number of other SAB sets.

The large scallop is one of my all time favourite dies from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits in the Annual Catalogue.  It's such a handy accent for cards.

And I added some bling using the Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins....So easy to apply because....well....they have adhesive backs!

Did you notice I switched the DSP over so that some were the big checks and some were the small checks??

Do you drool over all this lovely papery fun???  Do you have a shopping list that is looooong?  did you know that you can join my team as a Hobby Demonstrator which means that you can buy all your goodies for a 20% discount?

Stamparatus 101!

Stampin Up ® Stamparatus

 Class no. 2

Thursday 21st February 2019

Stamparatus®

Item #148187
$85.00

I have had quite a few requests for another class to showcase more techniques using the Stampin Up ® Stamparatus.
This is a fantastic tool with many different applications.

For this Class we used with the All Adorned Stamp set, which is one of the Second Release Sale-a-bration items FREE with every $90 ordered.

The first card, CASEd from Erica Cerwin, used Balmy Blue cardstock, and Night of Navy ink. Using the small grid paper made especially for the Stamparatus as a guide, we rotated the card, leaving the stamp in the same place on the clear plate to stamp each corner. We then stamped the greeting on Whisper White and used a gold foil edging to make it pop.

Do you spot a new stamp set?  It's from More than Words, a new stamp set designed for SAB coordination that will be available for purchase in March.

The next card overlapped two of the images from All Adorned, one using Smoky Slate ink, and the other Merry Merlot. The card front is Smokey Slate and the sentiment from the Hello Cup Cake set in Sale-a-bration (first release) is stamped in Merry Merlot, with the ribbon coming from the 2018 Holiday Catalogue.  We used the Stamparatus hinge step which allows you to move the plate down the hinges and evenly space the pattern.

We moved on to make a gift tag using Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and the Scalloped Tag Topper, from the Annual Catalogue. Using the Jar of Love stamp set, we stamped the jar, the lid and the fish, with the water inside using Bermuda Bay ink.  These are so quick to make, and are really eye catching to add to any gift.

The next technique was the reflective images from the This Little Piggy stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. We used the Silicone Craft Sheet (page 213 of the Annual Catalogue) to stamp the image onto,  then flipped it over so that it became the 'stamp' and stamped  a 'reflection' of the 'real' pig.
We coloured the pigs using the Stampin Blends.

The last technique, allowed us to stamp a multicoloured image on to the card base.  Because the stamp lands in exactly the same place, ink can be added in different shades and touch ups can be made.
We used the All Things Thanks stamp set and coloured it in Melon Mambo, Mango Melody and Calypso Coral, for a bright thank you card.
The ribbon is the Melon Mambo 1/4" Mini Striped Ribbon, and of course we used Rhinestones to add some bling.   Garden Impressions DSP was the inspiration for the colour choices and it provided the background for the Whisper White piece.
