Another notebook

This is a notebook I made for myself awhile ago. Scroll down to my previous post to see another. This one uses the Elegant Soiree DSP.

Thankyou Notebook

I love that a simple but beautiful and unique gift can be created using Stampin' Up! products. I bought this notebook for my upline as a thankyou. It was a plain brown style from Borders. But with a bit of DSP and ribbon and one of my favourites, the owl punch, I created what I think is a beautiful gift. I hope she likes it! This notebook is covered in the Woodland Walk DSP which has all sorts of images to suit the owl punch (his tummy uses this DSP too!)
Check back tomorrow and I'll show you a notebook using another colour combo.
Thanks!
Anna

An Ella card

My niece, who has had her cards on my blog before, sent me this beautiful card.... clever girl. Can you see her writing at the bottom left hand corner? Pretty neat for a six year old!?

Bag in a Box...er Box in a Bag

I'm back, with photos!

One of our projects at the December workshop was this Box in a Bag. The original was created by Di Gibbs, a SU! demonstrator in the U.S. It looks beautiful in the Jolly Holiday DSP and the project is quick and easy. Click here for the tutorial.
The tag uses the Dasher stamp - one of the a la CARTE single stamps. If you are a fan of the Scallop Circle punch, this is a larger one (6cm) available in the new Summer Mini. The Old Olive circle is punched out with the 4.4cm Circle Punch.
Stamps: Dasher
Card: Jolly Holiday DSP, Old Olive A4, Cherry Cobbler A4
Ink: Old Olive
Tools: Scallop Edge Punch, 4.4 cm Circle Punch, 6cm Scallop Circle Punch, Round Tab Punch (hidden behind the tag!)
Accessories: Wild Wasabi Double stitched ribbon (retired), Basic Rhinestones

December Frenzy continues

One of the great buys of the December Frenzy is the Circle Scissors Plus (#112530) usually $54.95 now $32.97.  I have used other circle cutters before and this is the best I have come across.  Great for scrapbooking and cardmaking.

  • Adjusts to make circles from 1" to 6" (2.5 cm to 15.2 cm)
  • Easily cuts through paper and card stock
  • Large, 11" (27.9 cm) base with gripper feet ensures that tool doesn’t slip
Includes
  • Base
  • 2 cutting blades

  • Blade can be replaced without touching it
  • Includes instructions for cutting, drawing, and changing the blade

To work the Circle Scissors Plus, you also need the Glass Cutting Mat (p 149 #112531) which is $37.95 and some repositionable adhesive such as Dotto (p145 #103305) for $24.95.

Pun Fun

I have long admired the set Pun Fun for the simplicity of the images and the clever puns.  Love a good pun!  I have finally bought the set and thought it ideal for a set of notecards for Zac's teacher.  I used paper piecing for each of the images.

For each of the DSPs chosen for each card, I used that colour as the base of the card...mmmm does that make sense?

Here are some of the images close up.

I put the notelets in a pizza box with a belly band.

Stamps:  Pun Fun
Card: Variety of DSP with corresponding cardstock
Ink:  Black Staz On

Jaffa Sticks

I purchased these skinny treat bags from a fellow demonstrator and Zac and I had a great time making 'jaffa sticks' for his friends at school.  The jaffas just squeezed in.

This stamp set, Punches Three is now retired.

Teeny Tiny Sentiments for a Teeny Tiny Price

One of the fantastic bargains during December Frenzy is the set Teeny Tiny Sentiments (#119185, page 105 of catalogue).  Its regular price is $62.95, but during December it's selling for $31.48 - that's half price.  The set contains 24 stamps, in varying fonts which cover just about any occasion you could imagine.  Each can be stamped straight onto card stock or cut out using the Word Window punch (#119857),  Modern Label Punch (#119849) or 4.4 x 2.2 cm Oval Punch (#119855).

One stamp I use often is the "Hello Baby" stamp, and not for baby cards.  Using a Stampin' Write marker,  I ink up the "Hello" for quick note cards to friends and customers.

  • Click here to see previous samples from my blog that use Teeny Tiny Sentiments.
  • Scroll down to view the December Frenzy flyer.
  • Email me on wheatonanna@hotmail.com if you wish to place an order.

Thanks!

Summer Mini Sneek Peek - Itty Bitty Bits

If you like tiny, the Itty Bitty Bits in the new Summer Mini are for you.  Tiny stamps, tiny punches and tiny buttons which all co-ordinate.  This card was so much fun to make - it was not my design;  I copied it from a training video on the website, one of the many services we have access to as demonstrators.  Remember that the new SUMMER MINI is out on December 1st!  Check back at the start of the month for the link.  Now...to list the components of the card....this may take awhile.
Stamps:  Itty Bitty Bits, Whimsical Words (retired)
Card:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Melon Mambo
Ink:  Soft Suede, More Mustard, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo

Summer Mini Peek - Aviary again

This simple card is made using the Aviary set from the upcoming Summer Mini.  The DSP is one of the hostess rewards.  I have had the pack for awhile but just opened it - the patterns are fabulous, in the new In Colors.

Stamps:  Aviary
Card:  Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, Whisper White, DSP pack - In Color
Ink:  Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight
Tools:  Scallop Square Punch, Big Shot, Little Leaves Sizzlit Die

Summer Mini Peek - Simple Christmas

Here is a simple yet stunning card, so quick to put together.  The Summer Mini has a larger Scallop Circle punch, which you can layer behind the Scallop Circle punch we know and love.  Here, I have punched out some DSP with the Ornament Punch and layed it onto the new bigger scallop circle.  Some dimensionals give it a lift and add the the impact of white on white.  Dimensionals are a must have in anyone's kit and at $7.50 per pack (of 300!) they are very affordable.

Summer Mini peek - Aviary

I am still enjoying a browse through the new catalogue but it is almost time for the Summer Mini, released December 1st.  I'll give  you a peek at a few of the things on offer over the next few posts.

One of the darling sets available in clear or wood mount is Aviary - so cute.  I have been making a bunch of note cards for a mini market this weekend and used some of the images from this set.

This owl is so cute, SU! could sell him on his own.  I made the first lot of notecards with him in a cage but then decided he should be free so I just layered him on a couple of circle punches and the scallop circle punch.

Like the bag topper? - that's the Top Note die from the Big Shot.  It's designed to be a bag topper, but there are hundreds of other uses for it.

Stamps:  Aviary (coming soon!), Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango
Ink:  Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive
Tools:  1 3/4" circle punch. 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 3/4" Scallop circle punch, Word Window punch, Big Shot, Top Note Bigz die
Accessories:  Medium cello bags, Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Tempting Turquoise 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Mini Square envelopes (7.9 x 7.9 cm)

Christmas gift

I love making Christmas gifts.  This is for my son's music teacher.  Those Aldi chocolates on one side and gift tags on the other.  This is made using the Big Shot bigz xl die Box#2.  I assembled the boxes without folding the flaps down.  I trimmed the side flaps off and then glued the two boxes back to back.

Circle Circus

Looking for a versatile stamp set?  Circle Circus is one of my favourites.  It contains 10 patterned circle stamps of varying sizes.  Change the arrangement of the images and vary the colours and you can have a card that is masculine, feminine or for a child.  I saw this design on Allison Ohran's blog and reproduced it.

Stamps:  114375 Circle Circus (p 89)
Card:  Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink:  Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie
Tools: Scallop Circle punch, Modern Label Punch, Circle punches of various sizes
Accessories:  Gold Brads

Keep checking into my blog for some samples from the Summer Mini coming soon!

Asian Artistry

This beautiful stamp set is now retired but I love its images.  Using the Stampin' Write marker brush tips, it is easy to ink up parts of the images in different colours.  The Haiku DSP, also retired, matches perfectly.  I was asked to make a few sympathy cards and these images fitted the request.
Stampin' Write markers are dual tipped: a fine tip for details and a brush tip for wider colour application.  They are only $5.75 each and available in all the colours.

Ornamental Christmas

If you haven't discovered the Ornament Punch yet, it's a beauty.  It cuts out the shape so cleanly, either around a punched image or out of some DSP.  This is a set of note cards I made which fit in the mini pizza box at the back.  These were a gift for a stamp-a-stack hostess.

If you'd like a demonstration workshop at your home, contact me on wheatonanna@hotmail.com  There is no cost to you and you are eligible for hostess benefits, depending on sales.  Alternatively, if you have a group of six or more friends who love stamping, you might like me to run a stamp-a-stack for $20 a head.  These are a great way to get a group of friends together for a fun morning, afternoon or evening.

Stamps:  121502 Delightful Decorations
Card:  121681 Cherry Cobbler, 106576 Old Olive, 106549 Whisper White, 117159 Jolly Holiday DSP
Ink:  102277 Old Olive, 119669 Cherry Cobbler
Tools:  119847 Ornament Punch, 118402 Scallop Trim Border, 119873 3/4" Circle Punch
Accessories:  109054 Old Olive 1.6cm Grosgrain Ribbon, 107309 Mini Square envelopes

Congratulations

The Big Shot came to the rescue (again!) when I had to make a card for a young girl who won a speaking competition.  I didn't really have a stamped image to suit the occasion, so a simple word fitted the bill.
Yay Courtney!
All of these colours and the DSP are now retired.  Aren't they nice and bright?

Halloween on a budget

Nothing to do with cardmaking but I thought I'd show you my pumpkin.  We have carved a pumpkin in previous years but this year it would have cost me $25!! to buy a pumpkin.  Even Zac agreed that was too much.  Driving past the fruit shop a few days before Halloween I saw the price of watermelon.  "It'd be cheaper to carve a watermelon!"  I said to myself.  "It'd be cheaper to carve a watermelon!" I realised.  So we did....for $7.

Ella's creations

I am a little behind with my blogging as my computer would not let me load photos.  The last few posts have been using photos I had already loaded.  Now I am back on track but a little behind with my updates.

I ran a stamp-a-stack at my friend Lib's house the other week.  Her 6 year old daughter Ella, who has featured on my blog before, loves cardmaking and therefore... me.  :-)  This was hanging on the front door when I arrived.

Isn't she thoughtful and clever?  What a lovely message to receive.
Between stamp-a-stacks we did our own little workshop using the two-step owl, amongst other things. (I can never use just one tool!)  Ella loved it and I sent her some more punch outs in the mail.

This was a thankyou she sent me in return.

Jolly Holly

This is one of my stamp-a-stack designs which is so easy to put together.  The Jolly Holly DSP is gorgeous and co-ordinates beautifully with Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler - whatever did we do without Cherry Cobbler??
The Christmas sentiment is from the Perfect Punches set.
And if you have little strips of paper left over, these can be lined up for this design.
Stamps:  Perfect Punches
Card:  Old Olive A4, Cherry Cobbler A4
Ink:  Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler
Tools:  Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch
Accessories: Old Olive 1.6cm Grosgrain Ribbon

Em's bag

Em's notebook and chocolate crayons were all presented in this little tote.  I used a Lauren Meader 'Around Town Tote template which can be downloaded here.  It was really easy to put together and I kept my first attempt pretty simple.

November 6, 2010

More for Em

I also used the Top Note die to make a topper for this gift:  Chocolate Crayons!  The tiny tag is from Tiny Tags of course - there's a punch to match!  Again, I used Soft Suede card and Marina Mist ribbon.

November 4, 2010

Owl for Em

The Two-Step Owl Punch is a must have!  (That and Baroque Motifs stamp set and...)  I made a little gift for a family friend.

This little notebook was so easy to cover.  I got the idea from Angie Juda's Chic n Scratch website.

Stamps:  Alphabet set (non SU! but you could easily do a name on the computer)
Card:  Soft Suede, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Elegant Soiree DSP
Ink:  Baja Breeze
Tools:  Two Step Owl Punch, Two Step Bird Punch, Modern Label Punch
Accessories:  Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon

Keep checking in and I'll show you what else I made her.

A Blog of Chocolate

Friday is International Teachers Day.  I love these types of days where saying 'thankyou' or 'I appreciate you' is official.  We don't say thanks often enough but we are quick to complain when things go wrong.

I made thankyous for Zac's teachers who do a fabulous job every day.

The box is made using Box #2 of the Big Shot bigz xl dies.  I think Stampin' Up! and Aldi have had discussions because they sell a chocolate that fits perfectly into this box.  I have wrapped four chocolates in DSP for each box.

These are the chocolates - there are five in a pack which means one is left over each time you make a box.....Hmmm...what to do...what to do...

October 26, 2010

Geometrical = Masculine

This card is easy to prepare, you just need to be a patient gluer.  Stampin' Up!s square punched allow you to punch out plenty of shapes in a snap.  A line up of brads adds some polish.

Card:  Kiwi Kiss A4 (retired), Pacific Point A4, Baja Breeze A4, Riding Hood Red A4, Whisper White A4
Tools: Extra Large Square Punch, Large Square Punch, Mat Pack
Accessories:  Silver Brads

October 24, 2010

Notelets

In the previous catalogue, you could buy these notelets and matching envelopes.  Now only the envelopes are available, which makes sense because you can easily cut your own notelets and therefore make them any colour you wish.  They are on page 123 of the catalogue and are 7.9 cm x 7.9 cm.  These mini cards use Baroque Motifs (everyone should own that set - even non-stampers!) matched with a variety of other stamp sets.  Don't you love the embossed butterfly?  That's run through the Big Shot.

October 22, 2010

Blushing Bride meets Punch Potpourri

I love Blushing Bride, one of the new In Colors; sort of a smokey pink.  Here, I have teamed it with Punch Potpourri, a Level One Hostess set, to make a cute little notelet which fits neatly into the Mini Square envelopes (7.9 cm x 7.9 cm) A stick on Basic Pearl adds a touch of elegance.  This was super quick to put together.

Stamps:  Punch Potpourri
Card:  Blushing Bride DSP, Whisper White A4, In Color Designer Series Paper Stack
Ink: Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Tools:  Full Heart Punch
Accessories: Basic Pearl

October 20, 2010

Bit of Bling

My nephew loves drawing and is always doing quick sketches.  He makes his own original cards by doing a striking black ink sketch on the front.  He did this sketch for my mum's birthday card - a grin with flashing tooth.  I couldn't resist grabbing one of the stick on jewels and adding it for a bit of bling.
