A challenge! Dinosaurs in a box.

I was asked to make a sampler frame with a dinosaur theme!  Eek!  Stampin' Up! has had some wonderful dinosaur sets in the past which have now retired.  Fortunately I still had one and could borrow the other.  (Thanks Jenny!)

The Ribba frames from Ikea are perfect for these.  Once I got going on the project I found that the ideas came easily!

Here's some close ups of the panels.   I used a combination of stamping, heat embossing, Big Shotting and watercolouring.  Our new Copper Embossing Powder was perfect to highlight the panels and tie them together.

It's hard to see the details of the panel on the bottom left so here is a close, close up...

I cut out the leaf using the Big Shot, then layered it several times to pop it up.  Kind of a 3D effect.

If you'd like to see some other sampler frames I have made, click HERE.

Now the products I have used above have retired, but there are many many new and yummy products in the new catalogue.

Tender and catalogue launch

Continuing on with a few more pics from the cruise.  Thanks for your feedback on your enjoyment of them!

We saw some beautiful sunsets on the cruise - I don't think I have been in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight since I was in grade 7!

When we arrived at Cannes, France there was no cruise terminal (and see, Gold Coast, we managed OK without it!) We were taken to shore on tenders - the only time you want to find yourself in a lifeboat!  Here is our ship from the shore.  The water was an amazing colour.  I heard it described as 'slurpy blue' which was pretty accurate.

Who has seen To Catch a Thief?  We loved seeing these set ups of seats along the beachfront.

The streets of Cannes were so pretty and we were there not long after the film festival!  This looks surprisingly calm but it was pretty busy.

And who has seen this Hotel in movies?

And I found someone famous!!  Famous in my Stampin' Up! world at least!  This is Mary Fish.   She is a very successful demonstrator in the U.S.  She was on the ship but I didn't run into her there - I ran into her in the main street of Cannes.  I had just eaten a lemon crepe which dripped out of its wrapper and down the leg of my pants.  I was feeling daggy before this incident - everyone in Cannes was so nicely dressed!  Mary was oh so elegant too and graciously agreed to a photo.  I hope she didn't notice my pants!  Mary was the first blog I fell in love with.  Her stamping style is unique. My husband laughs that I have to 'check in with Mary' every day.  You can find her blog HERE

And just this past weekend, I held a launch for the new Stampin' Up! catalogue!

I love these events and the chance to show my customers new products and techniques.  We combined the catalogue launch with Australia's Biggest Morning/Afternoon Tea.

Welcome.....

Sending some love....anyone who has been to any of my events would know Betty-Lou.  She has been in hospital so we wrote messages of support for her and I assembled them into a banner.

My sister sewed SU! fabric into these beoootiful zippered pouches which I offered as an incentive for anyone who placed an order or joined up.

As always, we had a raffle of lovely 'stuff' donated by Stampin' Up!

And a display of samples using the new products.

And Lucky Door Prizes!  It's fun dressing these up.

In all we did five make and takes.  This was a simple one using the Jar of Love stamp set and framelits and Copper Embossing Folder.

Phew!  How was that for an update?

More cruise pics

Our second cruise port was Civitavecchia.  It was on that day that the rail workers decided to go on strike, causing disruptions to travel plans for people planning to go into Rome.  We had been selective about our shore excursions anyway ($$) and on this day we chose to explore Civitavecchia.  We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the 'smallness' of it.

Our third port was Florence.  This time we got clever.  My husband is super thorough at reading up about places and we learnt that if you gathered a group and caught a taxi together, it worked out much cheaper.  And the taxis are geared up for it - they take you on a tour for a day and you pay them at the end.

So seven of us were given a magnificent tour of Florence and Pisa.

The Ponte Vecchio, famous for its jewellery shops.  This year is our 20th Wedding Anniversary AND a significant birthday for me (21 AGAIN!!) so hubby treated me.

I didn't realise I was actually ON the bridge at first!

So many people.

Onto the Leaning Tower of Pisa - such a breathtaking sight.  These places are always so different to how you imagine them.  I was expecting some sort of long approach to it but the taxi dropped us off and there it was, just round the corner, saying SURPRISE!!

Plenty of people doing this.

Oh, OK, I did it too!

Returned to our cabin to find a crab in our bed!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Incentive Trip

Thanks to my wonderful team and customers, I was lucky enough to earn this year's Incentive Trip.  I still can't believe that Stampin' Up! gave us a Mediterranean Cruise!

The night before demonstrators could choose to stay in the Fairmont, courtesy of Stampin' Up! so of course we did!

We were bussed to the cruise ship the next morning.  This was our first glimpse of our home for the next week

Just like The Love Boat.

Our first day was an 'At Sea' day.  We had a General Session and time to explore.  Every day we were encouraged to visit the Hospitality Room to gather with other demonstrators and see products and samples.  We could also spin the wheel to win a prize - ink pad, DSP, washi tape etc.  Didn't want to miss that!

Each night we were surprised with a pillow gift.  SU!s pillow gifts are legendary.  We were so spoilt.  First night this box was waiting.

And inside was a Stampin' Up! cap.  Yup!  Used it everyday!

Our first port was Naples - my first ever glimpse of Italy.

And from Naples we chose to take a tour of Pompeii.

Here are my boys (and my finger, sorry!) in Pompeii.  Hubby's airfare and cruise were also courtesy of Stampin' Up! and we bought on for Zac because when would we ever have this opportunity again!

Some sights in Naples - we were able to walk off the ship into Naples.

And that night there was an elephant in the room.......

Thanks for stopping by!

Another card, and some more Camino pics

Hi Everyone

I can't believe it's been nearly a week since my last blog entry.  I am working hard to get on top of things but still find a nap to be the answer to my addled brain.  Aah...jet lag!

Some more trip info...

Just a little more about the Camino then I'll give you some Incentive Trip pics!

We saw so much beautiful countryside, including bridges like this, which are typical of the area.

Often we would wander through small villages and pass between small houses.

We were always on the look out for toilet stops and we appreciated the humour on this sign!

Here we are in Santiago de Compostella, having walked 116 kms.  The square in front of the Cathedral is the finishing point for all walkers and cyclists.  It's a spectacular spot to end the journey.

One of the things I enjoyed doing was going to the square over the next couple of days and watching people come in.  Many lie down, resting on their back packs.  Some have walked the whole way - over 800 kms.  Some people cheer, some dance, some just drop to the ground.

And some cry - this lady was at the back of the square with tears streaming down her cheeks.  So many different reasons for completing the journey.

Next post, I'll give you some pics from the trip!
