Baby Swipe Technique

This has nothing to do with grabbing babies from prams.

I first tried this technique using darker colours and it was disastrous!  But then I tried it in soft colours:  Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery.

  • Fold a baby wipe into thirds and then thirds the other way.  Then fold the square in half.  This final fold is your swiping edge and should be about the width of your fingertips.
  • Squeeze a drop of ink onto the fold, alternating with another colour:  I did three drops of Certainly Celery and three of Bashful Blue.  You'll end up with a line of ink drops.
  • Swipe this across your glossy card, keeping your fingertips close to the edge, to give it firmness.  It helps to put a post it note under the card to create a 'handle'.
  • Move your swiper along to create the next lot of stripes.  Once your whole card is full, turn the piece at right angles to swipe in the other direction, creating a soft blanket effect.

My technique improved with a few tries and I am sure I could now return to the darker colours and get a great result.  (I am now an experienced swiper.)

Swallowtail

If you look on page 18 of your Seasonal Catalogue, you'll see a huge butterfly.

And on the facing page you'll see the instructions for making this card.

There are so many creative ideas in our catalogues that it's not hard to come up with a beautiful card.
The instructions for making this beautiful piece are even written in the catalogue.
  • The image is stamped in Versamark ink then embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder.
  • Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint is then painted over the butterfly and dried with the Heat Tool.
I made this card when I attended a team meeting with my upline.  It's inspiring to be part of such a creative and encouraging group.   If you would like to join our team don't forget that there is a fantastic offer on at the moment:
Ever wish you had more money to spend on Stampin’ Up! products? Consider it done. Join Stampin’ Up! before 30 May and get an extra $60 for your Starter Kit.  That means you pay $169 to join and you choose $235 worth of products!  That's any products you like from either of the two catalogues.

If you would like to join/attend my classes/order or any combination of the three, please don't hesitate to phone me (07 55 765 469) or email me wheatonanna@hotmail.com.

Baby Wipes Technique Part 2 - French Foliage

Here is another card we made in our baby wipe class.

Using every stamp from the French Foliage stamp set we created this:

  • Fold a babywipe into quarters and drip a variety of ink colours onto the wipe.
  • Press your stamp into the ink, just as you would into a stamp pad.
  • Stamp onto glossy card stock for the best effect.
  • Keep rotating your blocks as you stamp so that the leaves have a falling effect.
  • The background behind the single leaf is created by stamping the block into the ink then pressing it onto the cardstock.
  • The colours we used were Soft Suede, More Mustard and Always Artichoke but in the evening class we added Cajun Craze to our babywipe as well.

Stamps:  French Foliage
Card:  More Mustard, Glossy White
Ink:   Soft Suede, More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze
Tools: 3/4 " Circle Punch

Baby Wipe Techniques

In class this week we have been playing with baby wipes.

By folding up a baby wipe and dripping different coloured inks onto it with reinkers, you end up with a multicoloured stamp pad.

This mix of Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo was my favourite of the combinations.

This one was Real Red, Pacific Point and Regal Rose.

The images are stamped on glossy cardstock.

This one combined Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.

I have been wanting to try this technique with this stamp set for ages.

Colour Refresh

Stampin' Up! has announced a Colour Refresh in line with the release of the new catalogue in July.

This means that some current colours have to make way for some yummy new ones.

Here's a table of what's coming and what's going.  Many of the new colours are past In Colours.  They were so popular that they have returned.  Click on the picture for an enlarged view.

Here's the word from Stampin' Up!:

Beginning on 4 April 2013, all retiring/discontinued colour products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. We did anticipate increased demand and based our forecasts for these retiring colours on historical sales information from previous colour transitions

This means that if you wish to stock up on favourites, you need to place your orders soon.

Some refills for stamp pads are sold out already!!!  Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and River Rock ink refills are gone.
Regals Collection and Neutrals Ink Refill Collection are sold out.
Regals and Brights Watercolour Crayons are also sold out.

If you would like to place an order please email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone 07 55 765469.  Online ordering is also available by clicking HERE.

The Pop Up Posies Designer Kit from the Seasonal Mini is a complete kit for making beautiful gift tags...with plenty left over for extra flowers.  The carnation, above, is made with five layers which are snipped into petals, sponged along the edges, then spritzed with water.

The kit contains loads of petals, 9 tags, brads and twine plus the darling Just For You stamp.

You'll find the kit on page 18 of the Seasonal Catalogue.

Boutique Boxes

Stampin' Up's Boutique boxes are one of the hidden gems in the Seasonal Catalogue. (see page 25)

There are eight boxes in the kit and a sheet of die cuts to add.  The kit co-ordinates with A Little Greeting stamp set which can be bought alone or as a bundle.

We made our own versions in our team meeting last week.

And added a wrapped chocolate.  The kit also has a co-ordinating gift card which looks bigger than the box in this picture, but it will fit inside the box.

There are plenty of embellishments on the sheet of die cuts....

And once these have been pushed out, you are left with this.....

Don't throw it out!  It's perfect to sponge through to create this....

The quickest card ever made!

The Boutique Boxes Designer Printed Kit (#129306) is only $13.95.  This is a great kit for crafters who don't own a Big Shot or it would make an excellent gift.

If you would like to purchase this or any other Stampin' Up! items, please phone o7 55 765 469 or email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com

Papillon Potpourri

This is the third girl card we made in class recently.  Designed for older girls and therefore not pink.

We used one of the gorgeous patterns from the now retired Sycamore Street Sale-a-Bration DSP.

The layout of this was easy - the simplest of our three designs.  I got the idea from Pinterest.
  • Paper Piercing is now oh-so-easy with the variety of paper piercing packs that Stampin' Up! offers.  They match so many of the punch and framelits shapes.
  • Tangerine Tango is one of the colours in that beautiful DSP so it was a cinch to achieve colour co-ordination in this card.
  • Popping out the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri is easy using the co-ordinating Elegant Butterfly Punch.
Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri, Short and Sweet (retired)
Card:  Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Tangerine Tango, Rick Razzleberry
Tools:  Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Paper Piercing Tool, Essentials Paper-Piercing Mat, Elegant Butterfly Punch

If you are interested in my classes, they are held in the Burleigh Waters area on the Gold Coast.  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone me on 07 55 765 469 for more details.
