Convention Cupcake Swap

Here are some of my swaps for Convention.  You make multiples of a card front or other item and then swap with other demonstrators.  So if you make 20 items, you'll get 20 different items back.  It's a fun way to start Convention and meet other demonstrators.

As our catalogue is retiring at the end of June, I tried to use colours and items that I thought would still be available in the next catalogue.

Yup...it's another project using Crystal Effects.

I found these magnets at Officeworks.  They have a resin bubble on them which I prised off and covered with a Gumball Green Rectangle.

The cupcakes are made using the Cupcake Builder Punch and the flower is from the Build-a-Cupcake stamp set.

Ready to swap!

15% off This and That till the end of May

I have returned from Convention thoroughly inspired.  It's a fantastic event where we are treated so well by Stampin' Up!  It's a fabulous company to work for.

One of the products featured was the This and That line of products.

Here is mine when I unpacked it a few weeks ago...

What is This and That?  It's sort of like a junk drawer - all those snippets of news, business cards, jottings, pics that are lying around your desk or on a noticeboard can be rounded up and stuck in.  Use is to document your year, take it on a trip.

I had already decided that mine was going to be a book to showcase my SU! colours and products for classes and demonstrations, but I was inspired to work on the cover when I returned from Convention.

It was great fun to keep layering and layering until I got to this...

Until May 31st, Stampin' Up! is offering the Epic This and That bundle for 15% off!

So what's in it?

All this for $55.88 - 15% off the retail value!

What a fantastic gift for someone.

This offer is only till the end of the month!  The it will be available in the new catalogue starting in July....but without the discount.  To order go to my business website and click on the Shop Now button or email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com

Another Convention Gift

Have you taken a look at Stampin' Up!s range of fabrics?  The range of fabrics is beautiful and co-ordinates with our colours and card stock.  Have a look on page 170 and 171 of our catalogue.

I found this key fob on Pinterest (which led me to this site) and thought it a nifty gift!   These were easy to make - I am a basic sewer - nothing fancy is my style, but I managed to whip these up fairly quickly and without anyone holding my hand (which would make sewing really awkward anyway!)

Stampin' Up!s fabric has just been retired in the U.S. so it may well retire here when we get our retirement list next month....so if you would like to order some you might like to get in quick!  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or you might like to visit my online store.

A Parliament of Owls

By the time you read this post I will have collected my bag and started my Convention experience.  We are in for a real treat from Thursday to Saturday as demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand converge on the Brisbane Convention Centre for three days of inspiration.

Here is a gift I have made for my team members who are attending and some other special people.

I saw this beautiful bag tag on Jo Dumbleton's blog.  I love the use of Crystal Effects on anything.  These were so much fun to make.

I couldn't quite get the split ring onto the creation as to pull it apart wide enough meant that the ring itself became bent, so I settled for ribbon to tie the owl to the ring.  I thought the effect was nice.

Jo's lovely creation also had a piece of vellum on the back, run through the printer.

And here is the whole parliament of owls.

I hope the recipients like their little gifts.

Card:  Lucky Limeade (leaves), Real Red (heart), Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie (beak), Soft Suede and Whisper White (owl body and eyes), Summer Smooches DSP, Vellum
Tools:  Owl Builder Punch, Fancy Flower Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Crop-a-Dile
Accessories:  3.3 mm Taffeta Ribbon, Crystal Effects

Don't forget that if you would like to join my team there is a fantastic joining offer on at the moment - Join for $169 and choose $295 worth of any Stampin' Up! products!  This offer will last until May 30th.  Please email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com if you are interested!

Vellum Layering

Here's another card from our vellum class using a sentiment from Delightful Dozen.  Saw this card on Lorri Heiling's blog and CASEd it completely.  I loved the way she layered the vellum over the spots.

The sentiment was stamped using Staz On ink and finished off with a rhinestone.

Notecards

I love making these to use for notes to my customers.

I combined the Print Poetry DSP from the current mini with the Tasteful Trims die.  It was super quick to make the scallops as you could put a lot of layers through at once.

The finishing touch is added using the 1 cm Stitched Satin Ribbon in this year's In Colours.

Card: Print Poetry DSP, 2012 - 2014 In Colours, Very Vanilla
Tools:  Big Shot, Tasteful Trims Bigz die
Accessories: Stitched Satin Ribbon in Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petal, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit

Manhattan Flower

Another of our vellum cards used the Manhattan Flower embossing folder.

The ladies loved the effect of the vellum through the Big Shot.

  • Vellum is always a tricky one to adhere.  For this card we ran a thin strip of double sided tape down the side of the vellum and stuck it on.  the strip is then covered by the ribbon.
  • Most of the ladies chose to trim around the roses, as in the first sample.
  • This card is so quick to put together and so pretty!
Stamps:  Perfectly Penned, Short and Sweet
Card:  Pretty in Pink (retiring), Vellum
Ink:  Rose Red
Tools:  Big Shot, Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch
Accessories:  Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon (retired)

Seeing Red

Stampin' Up! orders come packed with lengths of kraft paper for padding.  I fold it up and put it in a drawer but it seems to breed!

It came in handy for some present wrapping recently.  I screwed it up into a ball then spread it out and ran my Real Red ink pad over the folds.

The letter is done on computer, printed out onto Crumb Cake and then cut out.

Recycling success!!

Vellum

One of my customers showed me a card similar to this that she had bought at a market stall.

Edited to add:  I have since found out that the original creator of this card is Linda Higgins.  She showed us the card at Convention!

I loved the vellum flower and thought the design perfect for my velum class this week.  The card I CASEd was in bright colours but I chose to use Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

  • The card is cut using the biggest die in the Ovals Collections Framelits.  I folded the cardstock in half and cut through the two layers on the fold.
  • I used the next sized oval for the white layer.
  • The flower is created with white embossing powder which comes up so beautifully on the vellum.
  • Crumb Cake seam binding adds the finishing touches.
Stamps:  Affection Collection, Elements of Style, Mixed Bunch
Card:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink:  Crumb Cake
Tools:  Big Shot, Ovals Collection Framelits, Blossom Punch
Accessories:  Crumb Cake Seam Binding

Thanks a Million

The Word Play stamp set was the perfect choice to thanks four teachers.

I wrapped a Kit Kat in Real Red DSP and trimmed it with Tempting Turquoise ribbon.  The tag is made with the Two Tags die and the sentiment cut out with a framelit die.

I ended up adding rhinestones after I had take the pic.

Stamps:  Word Play
Card:  Whisper White, Real Red, Designer Series Paper Stacks
Ink:  Real Red
Tools:  Big Shot, Two Tags die, Apothecary Accents Framelits
Accessories:  Tempting Turquoise ribbon

Mother's Day Treats

Each year I package some goodies for the Mother's Day stall at my son's school.  I have made good use of my Spring Sampler stamp set.

The sentiments are computer generated:  I like to use some punny sayings and the kids seem to like them too....or maybe they are just humouring me.

I love taking a simple item and packaging it up to make a cute present.  Pretty easy.

Stamps:  Spring Sampler
Card:  Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink:  Tangerine Tango
Tools:  1" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch
Accessories:   Small Cello bags (retired), Dazzling Details Silver
