Cards for our Soldiers

Each year I have a few occasions where customers can make some Christmas cards for Australia soldiers.  These are divided into packs of ten then sent to soldiers serving overseas to send back to their loved ones.

Last week I had two free classes where everyone made cards then left them behind.  One of my ladies took the photo above (thanks Margaret!)

We also made a bunch of cards at the catalogue launch and at a recent stamp-a-stack at my sisters.

Two years ago when we started contributing to this idea, we made 200 cards..last year we made 322...this year we made a grand total of 380!
Update!!  At the end of October we received 125 more cards from one of my team members mothers and her craft group.  That takes our total to 505!  Wow!!
Thanks so much to all the ladies who donated their time to make all these beautiful cards.  Thanks also for contributing to the 'envelope fund.'  We had a lot of fun making these cards and knowing that they are going to a worthy cause.

Simply Created - Eight Cards in Twenty Minutes

Christmas cards are always a challenge:  mass producing at a busy time.

I sat down last night with the Stampin' Up! Simply Created kit and put together the eight cards in the kit.  It took twenty minutes!  That's a card every 2 and a half minutes!  And they have matching lined envelopes.
The most time consuming part was threading the Bakers Twine through the buttons but I changed around the design  a bit anyway.
Here I have placed a Basic Rhinestone in the centre of the button.

The kit contains
  • eight envelopes and liners
  • eight card bases
  • eight pieces of patterned DSP pieces
  • eight white tags
  • eight buttons
  • eight pieces of Baker's Twine
The kit co-ordinates with the Merry Little Christmas stamp but of course other Christmas stamps could be used.
# 132158 Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kit $16.95 ($2.12 cents a card!)
# 131829 Merry Little Christmas Stamp (Clear mount $18.95)
# 131826 Merry Little Christmas Stamp (Wood mount $23.95)

Postage Collection: Don't forget the hostess sets!

If you are wanting some stamp sets at a bargain price, don't forget the Hostess Sets.  These are fantastic value and available to purchase using hostess dollars.  One of my favourites is Postage Collection on page 204 of the Annual Catalogue.

We made this fun chocolate wallet in a recent class as a father's day gift.

Inside was a wrapped chocolate and a couple of pockets for scratchies, gift cards, money...

Postage Collection has a variety of frames and cute little images to fit inside them.

This is a set money can't buy...but hostess dollars can.  How do you get this set?  There are three ways!
  • Gather a group of friends together for a Stampin' Up! party and earn Hostess dollars from sales.
  • Show the catalogue to your friends, gather orders totaling $300 and the rewards begin.
  • Place a $300 order through me or using my online store.

Accentuate the negative...?

One of the wiz-bangiest products in the Holiday Mini is the Expressions Thinlits Dies.

There are three dies:  thankful, merry and love.  Here I've used the 'Merry' to add impact to this Christmas card.

Hint:  When running these through the Big Shot, put some wax paper in between the die and the cardboard for easy separation!

The fantastic thing about these dies is that they can also be used in the negative...

Instead of featuring the cut out piece, I have used the space left behind for an oh-so-easy card.

Stamps:  none
Card:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse, Silver Glimmer Paper, Festival of Prints DSP (retired)
Ink:  none
Tools:  Big Shot, Holiday Ornaments Framelits dies, Expressions Thinlits Dies, Merry Minis Punch Pack

Pretty Boxes

The Stampin' Up! Decorative Window Gift Box is perfectly quick for those small gifts.

The box is already pretty without embellishments but it is also easy to customize as you wish.

This box contains a decorative thimble (plenty of room!) which is packed in shredded paper.

  • The boxes are 3.8 x 10.2 x 10.2 - the perfect size for  a variety of gifts
  • I cut up some co-ordinating DSP for inside
  • The clear window and white pattern are part of the box design.  All I did was add the ribbon.

Here it is with its matching card.  The envelope is lined using another Holiday catalogue favourite:  the Envelope Liners Framelit Dies.

# 132146 Decorative Window Gift Boxes are only $8.95 for 6 boxes.
#132218 Envelope Liners Framelits Dies $45.95
