Make a Monster

In my last post I mentioned I would show you another card with the same layout.

This one is more suited to a boy!

  • My monster was dressed up using paper piecing, where the image is stamped on DSP and cut out.
  • His one eye given dimension using a googly eye from a cheap shop.  Mini Glue dots fix these in place.
  • The design is tied together using mini brads for the sentiment and stars.

Stamps:  Make a Monster, Itty Bitty Banners
Card:  Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink:  Black Stazon
Tools:  Large Star Punch (retired)
Accessories:  Mini Brads

Word Play again

I have been working on restocking my card boxes with some masculine cards and cards for boys.  I think this one would suit either.

Once again I have used some retired items, but incorporated the Wish Big stamp from Word Play and some Mini Brads.

Crumb Cake is a great background colour for masculine cards.

  • This is such a versatile layout and could be used for a variety of cards.  Keep checking in and I will show you another version.
  • By layering the DSP onto Pumpkin Pie, it makes the pattern jump out from the Crumb Cake rather than blend in.
  • It's easy to line up the brads by using our piercing mats.  And by placing brads into the centre of the stars, the design is co-ordinated.
Stamps:  Word Play
Card:  Crumb Cake, Travel Journal DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie
Tools:  Large Star Punch (retired - why? Why? WHY?), Essentials Paper Piercing Pack
Accessories:  Mini Brads

Hexagons are IN

One of the beautiful new products in the Seasonal Mini is a Haxagon Textured Embossing Folder.

It's a lovely one to run through the Big Shot - the embossing is so clear.

  • Run a piece of Whisper White through the Hexagon TEF and cut out one of the hexagons
  • This can be used as a template to cut out the shape from DSP
  • Snail each hexagon into the spaces on another 'hexagoned' piece.  The results are stunning.  In this card, I have picked out all the Midnight Muse patterns from Print Poetry DSP and trimmed with Midnight Muse ribbon

Word Play and Designer Builder Brads

Can those Designer Builder Brads go masculine?  Sure they can!

Each pack of brads comes with 16 brads and 20 epoxy bubbles.  Don't throw the extras away!  Use them on your cards!

  • Using the Itty Bitty circle punch, I punched out a circle to snail to the centre of the star.  The epoxy bubble sticks neatly over the top to complete the accessory and add dimension.
  • Have you seen the range of images from Word Play in our main catalogue?  It's a fantastic collection of off beat sayings for any occasion.
  • Pull out your retired papers and punches!  This DSP Travel Journal is retired, as is the star punch but both combine to create this bold card.

If you love the images in Word Play, why not add them to your SAB wish list?  Sale-a-Bration lasts until March 22nd.  To view the catalogue, click on the image to the left.  If you wish to place an order, email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com.

Stamps:  Word Play

Ink:  Night of Navy
Tools:  1 3/4" Circle Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Large Star Punch (retired)

More Pretty Petites

I saw these notecards on Dawn Griffith's blog and thought the design was a little different.

Instead of the traditional open at the side, this has a little flap over the top that tucks into the sentiment.

I used the Print Poetry DSP and co-ordinating colours.

  • The card base measures 3" x 7" and is scored at 1" and 4" measuring along the long side, using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool
  • The coloured square on the front measures 2 3/4" squared and the rectangle on the flap measures 3/4" x 2 3/4".
  • The sentiment is popped up on a dimensional which is stuck towards the bottom half of the back of the punched shape so that the flap can tuck underneath.
  • These are super easy to put together!
Stamps:  Pretty Petites
Card:  Whisper White, Print Poetry DSP, Melon Mambo, Marina Mist
Ink:  Melon Mambo, Summer Starfruit, Night of Navy
Tools:  Petite Curly Label Punch (this punch is a SAB item but will also be available for purchase after SAB), Simply Scored Scoring Tool

Designer Builder Brads

I have fallen in live with Brad.  Designer Builder Brad that is.  I have just ordered a couple more packets.

This is one of the cards we made at the launch so everyone got to try out these gorgeous brads.

We played around with all the colour combinations from the Tea for Two DSP in the new Seasonal Catalogue.

  • To create the criss cross background use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score parallel lines on the diagonal before flipping the cardstock around 180 degrees to score another set - creating the diamond pattern.  The same look can be achieved using the diagonal plate although we were able to experiment with a variety of dimensions on our diamonds.
  • Some of the other cards pictured above are embossed using the new Hexagon embossing folder.
  •
  • The new Bitty Butterfly adds a touch of whimsy.

Card:  Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla
Tools:  Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Itty Bitty Punches
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, Designer Builder Brads

The crisp outlines of our Delicate Details Lace Tape look stunning against Soft Suede.

This tape is one of the brand new products in the Summer Mini.

It's super quick to apply.  Can you imagine it against Basic Black!?

Have you spotted something else new?  The tiny butterfly...or should I say Bitty Butterfly, is also in our new catalogue.

Sale-a-Bration and Seasonal Mini Launch

I had a fantastic time on Saturday preparing and running the launch of our new Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration promotion.

I had 20 ladies at my house looking at samples, making and taking and chatting and eating.

These were the clips I decorated to hold each person's catalogues together.

I always have a bunch of samples on display.

As usual, Stampin' Up!s generous donation box brings a smile to everyone's faces.   We had about 30 prizes and everyone went home with something.

The raffle money went to the Queensland flood victims.  I donated the money to the Salvation Army, via Woolworths who will match it dollar for dollar.  We raised $175!

One of the make and takes is to make your own tea and coffee in the kitchen... and you can't have a tea or coffee without something to eat.

Like Betty-Lou's Banana cake....

Or a biscuit...

Thanks so much to everyone who came along.  It was lovely to see everyone having such a good time and raising money for a good cause.

Thanks for stopping by!

Too (Two) Easy Pretty Petites

Is this the quickest card on record?

I love the Sale-a-Bration set Pretty Petites.  As the name suggests the images are tiny.  The little set of brackets caught my eye and I made this super quick card.

The clearmount version of this set made it easy to centre the image.

Lots of clean white space means the image can't be anything but the focus.

The flower from the Itty Bitty Punch set is the perfect size.  I have used this punch so much I am wearing the image off the top of the punch!

I have been busy preparing for my launch on Saturday so keep checking in for some pics of the cards we made!

Tea for Two DSP

I am not sure what this type of card is called but it's super quick and easy and the results can be very different depending on the DSP you use.  This is the Tea for two DSP fomr the new Seasonal Mini.

These card are made using four pieces of DSP, cut simultaneously in a stack into four pieces of varying sizes.  The pieces are then shuffled around to reform the original shape but it is made up of four different patterns.  These are then snailed onto a card front and embellished.  Confused?  Yeah, I was too.  Maybe some pics will help.

A 'portrait version'...

...embellished with one of the Beautiful Wings butterflies.

And another...

...embellished with a Designer Builder Brad from the new Mini.  I love the effect of the epoxy bubble over the centre.

And here's a landscape version...

...embellished with one of the many sentiments from Bring on the Cake and an Itty Bitty punched flower.

And lastly...

...a simple embellishment using one of our new Framelits called Hearts a Flutter.  You can find this beautiful Framelits set on page 11 of our new Seasonal catalogue, along with its co-ordinating stamp set.

O is for Bus????

Just a little diversion from SAB and Seasonal catalogue to show you two cards I made for my nieces who started back at school.  I used the Every Little Bit stamp set..

One started prep so this was her card.

I coloured the cat's nose with Melon Mambo marker.

The other niece is starting Year 4 and is pretty cluey so this was her card.

Have you worked it out? It was O is for Omnibus; just to make it a little more challenging.

These cards were super quick to make with one stamped image and a letter done on the Big Shot.

I have never actually sat down to mount the 28 stamps in Every Little Bit but most are now assembled as I pull the set out when I am looking for a stamp for 'something different.' It really does contain a fantastic variety of stamps for every occasion.

Don't forget to check out the Sale-a-Bration specials that run till the end of March.  And our new Seasonal Mini catalogue is scrummy.

Perfectly Preserved...still preserved

Happy new catalogue.  The new Seasonal Mini is out  and it is packed full of scrummy new products AND it has some carryover products from the last catalogue.

I love love love this set!!  and I am so glad it is sticking around.  We have so many sets with flowers and leaves - I love the versatility of this little jar.  You can put anything into it!

I have made these before as a Christmas tag which you can see HERE.  I saw the idea at Inking Idaho originally.

These were made and photographed during a cyclonic weekend when lighting was poor and then non existant at night with a blackout!

Perfectly Preserved co-ordinates with the Cannery Set Framelits Dies - see how the top of the jar is not even stamped - just cut out with the Framelit and the Bigshot.  Easy.

These jars are stamped on a folded piece of Whisper White so that the are hinged at the top (underneath the patterned 'tops.')  A double thickness of Whisper White goes through the Bigshot with ease.

Pop two of these gift tages into a cello bag and add a topper and you have cute little gift.

Stamps:  Perfectly Preserved
Card:  Whisper White, Island Indigo, More Amore DSP, Real Red
Ink:  Early Espresso
Tools:  Bigshot, Cannery Set Framelit Dies, Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies, Bitty Banners Framelits, 3.2 cm Scallop Circle Punch, Heart to Heart Punch (retired), Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, Real Red 3.2 mm Taffeta Ribbon
