Happy 18th

I can't believe I have a nephew who is turning 18!

I have made him a milestone birthday card using the Big Shot aphabet.  The inspiration for the card design came from Clean and Simple - a great site to get inspiration for simple cards.
I used Soft Suede and Cherry Cobbler.

I wanted to make the inside a little more interesting which I did with some layering and sponging.  And, of course, a co-ordinating envelope.

Stamps:  none
Card:  Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, DSP Patterns Stack Neutrals
Ink:  Soft Suede
Tools:  Big Shot!!, Sponge

Zac's cards

I bought Make a Monster thinking it would be great for making cards for Zac and his friends.  Little did I realise how much he would like using it.  Here are some of his cards.  I love the different ideas that kids come up with.

Zac is great at writing thankyous.
Some nice bright pinks for a girl thankyou.

Big Shot workshop

Yesterday was the first of our Big Shot classes which introduced some ladies to the Big Shot for the first time.  We made some fab projects which are given such zing when the Big Shot is in action.

I have shown a similar card to this before, but it's a great example of a spectacular card that is easy to produce using the Big Shot and the Elegant Lines textured Impressions folder.

Simplicity is the key for this male card using the Inlaid Embossing technique.

The Faux suede technique, using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die.

Some patchworking given that something extra using the Top Note die - exclusive to Stampin' Up!

If you are interested in coming along to my classes, they are held in the Burleigh Waters area.  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone 55 765 469 for more information.

Thanks to the ladies who came.  I had a great time and hope you did too!

Papercraft of a different kind

My son, who you might remember was very into spying, is now very into Tech Decks and Flick Tricks.  His papercraft focus has been on making a skate park for his toys.  It has been added to, changed, improved, extended...you name it.  You might recognise some Stampin' Up! colours in amongst the work.

Do you like the foam pit?  (I didn't realise that the container still had its use by date on it!)  Zac has dreams of this skate park one day being made full size!
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday making some birthday and thankyou cards with the Make a Monster stamp set.  I'll post some pics soon!

Happy Birthday Dick

Our good friend Dick celebrated his birthday yesterday.  He is over in Western Australia for a year so I packaged up some goodies and posted them over along with this card which was inspired by Mary Fish, an American demonstrator whose blog I visit often.  She is the queen of colour so I went bold on this one using one of the In Colors Concord Crush.  The sentiment is computer generated.

The paper is the 6x6 pack of DSP that is one of the hostess gifts.  It has some yummy patterns in all the In Colors.

Happy Valentine's Day

I have always sent a card to my husband at work for Valentine's Day. The set Love Defined in the Summer Mini was the perfect choice.
I discoverd the combination of Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. The Fancy Favor die rolled through the Big Shot does double duty to produce a box and also this lovely scallop border which simply can't be thrown away.

Scallop Circle Punch tags

I am loving the larger Scallop Circle punch in the Summer Mini.  The original sized scallop circle is one of my most used punches so this one is sure to get a work out.  I made this little pack to send to a friend.  The scallop circle on the front is the smaller original sized one.

But inside....I have made cute little notelets punched out with the large Scallop Circle punch.  They are tucked into our smallest sized cello bags.

Stamps: Picture Thus (retired)

Embossing Workshop and 100 Posts

This is Post Number 100 on my blog!   I would love it if you could leave a comment.  You can even do it anonymously.

Here are some pics of the cards we made at my Embossing Workshop yesterday.

This was a little example of dry embossing - see the lines on the Whisper White?  These were done using the scoring tool on the paper trimmer.  Love that Easter Blossoms set.
Next we experimented with white embossing on a plain background.

And followed up with white embossing on a patterned background.  This ideas came straight from our monthly "Impressions" magazine, mailed to all demonstrators.  It's packed full of ideas and inspiration.

And who could resist ...emboss resist.  I love this stamp set "Bliss" from the current Sale-a-Bration sets.  You can earn this stamp set for FREE by placing a $100 order.
This card was CASED from Kimberly Van Diepen who had a great video of emboss resist if you missed my class.

Here is a little close up of the butterfly.  SU! has so many punches to match their images but this one, we had to cut out by hand.

And lastly, a little more emboss resist using the sponge daubers.

If you are interested in coming along to my classes they are held in the Burleigh Waters area twice monthly, day or evening.  Email me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone 55 765 469.

I {Heart} Hearts

I have had this set for awhile and it is the obvious one to pull out for Valentine's Day.  The set contains 10 hearts of different shapes and sizes, just aching to be stamped.

I used Riding Hood Red for this card, having favoured Cherry Cobbler over Christmas.  There are so many tiny details you can add to a handmade card.  See the tiny 'love' tag attached to the knot?

Stamps:  I {Heart} Hearts, Tiny Tags
Card:  Riding Hood Red A4, Whisper White A4
Inks:  Riding Hood Red
Tools: Jewellery Tag Punch
Accessories:  Riding Hood Red 3.2 cm Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Vintage Trinkets

This owl can do anything!!

The Two-Step Owl can 'do' any occasion - he just changes his waistcoat.  Here he is dressed up and dapper in Poppr Parade for Valentine's Day and ably supported by the new 6cm Scallop Circle Punch.   Pretty simple huh?

Itty Bitty Valentine

Did you know that the heart shaped Bitty Button matches the smallest heart on the Heart to Heart Punch?  I had fun making these simple Valentines and choosing some non-traditional colour combinations.  These hearts are punched out of the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and A4 in the Concord Crush colour.  The tiny heart (which is the heart from our favourite Two-Step Owl punch) is punched out of Poppy Parade.  The rhinestones add a loving twinkle.

Stamps:  Short and Sweet
Card:  Whisper White, In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Concord Crush
Ink:  Concord Crush
Tools:  Two Step Owl Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, Mini Glue Dots
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Bitty Buttons

And another in Poppy Parade.

Delicate Birthdays

Pocket Silhouettes is a delightful set of delicate floral images.  I love that we now have Designer Series Paper Packs in every colour family which make putting together a quick co-ordinating card soooo easy.  The large circle is cut out using the Circle Scissors.  I made these for two lovely girls who are friends of our family.
One is made using Blushing Bride colour scheme and the other uses Peach Parfait, both subtle In Colors.

Do you like the button detail?  It is so easy to attach buttons and ribbon using the Glue Dots and they stay put!

Stamps:  Pocket Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card:  Blushing Bride A4, Peach Parfait A4, In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Peach Parfait, Basic Black
