A way to do good things

Twice a year we run a charity day where customers attend for a fun day of crafting.  Our raffles, donated by Stampin' Up!® are well supported by those who attend.  The  money goes towards

  • stocking our footprint card boxes at Gold Coast and John Flynn Hospitals
  • supplying craft kits to John Flynn Hospitals
  • supplying craft items to Hummingbird House
  • and our most recent donation was craft supplies to Multicap at Robina and Tweed
A couple of weeks ago I was able to drop a box of craft supplies to Multicap.  The goodies were eagerly received and will be divided between two of Multicaps hubs.

This is Mady (on the right) who runs craft activities with the clients and me on the left.

And I was delighted to receive this card in the mail this week.

It's always exciting to receive a thank you but even more so when it is made using the items that have been donated.  Look at the care taken to stamp all those hearts!

If you would like to be part of our next fundraising event, it's coming up soon.  We are planning a fun day of crafting which includes a stamp set, lunch and afternoon tea and guided projects.

If you are interested in coming along you can contact me at wheatonanna@hotmail.com or phone me on 07 55765 469 or 041 6022 766.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pigment Sprinkles Class Part 2

I ran two fantastic fun classes to showcase the many ways you can create beautiful cards using Stampin Up ® Pigment Sprinkles. Look at all the different cards we made below.

This beautiful card dandelion was one of my samples and uses White Embossing Powder and the Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set.  I sprinkled the sprinkles, spritzed with water and left to dry naturally.

The cards below started their creation at the previous class.   We used the Pigment Sprinkles on Fluid Watercolor paper and then sprayed the surface with ironing starch. On the left, we crinkled Glad Wrap and left the card to dry and on the right, we sat bubble wrap on the top, to create the tiny circles. These were left to dry for a week - overnight is enough but it was a week between classes and then we peeled the plastic away.  The green background was run through the Stone Embossing Folder and decorated using the Tropical Chic stamp set, and the pink one used the Beautiful Day stamp set and Black Embossing Powder.  The results were stunning and each card was different.

The next technique was to add salt crystals to the mix.  Once the Pigment Sprinkles had been spritzed we added salt flakes and left the card to dry.  The salt drew the water in and created the a variety of effects like those below.

Aren't the pineapples below delicious?  We used strips of Shimmer White cardstock to sprinkle the lighter Pigment Sprinkles colours then spritzed.  Once dry we used the  'In The Tropics' dies, to die cut these pretty pineapples. They both sit on the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder.

The last project was inspired by Erica Cerwin, a U.S. demonstrator.  We created a set of tags using the Scallop Circle punches, to create the large and small flowers including coloured centres and punch leaves.

Our class was a little overcrowded in the evening but so much fun.  If you haven't tried Pigment Sprinkles they are great fun if you love to experiment and be arty.  Give them a go!

Pigment Sprinkles Class Part 1

Using Stampin Up ® Pigment Sprinkles, can produce so many different effects.   I am running a two part class where we are getting (very) inky playing with this beautiful product.

The green themed card above, is the most common effect achieved with Pigment Sprinkles, where we have used White Embossing Powder and the Painted Poppies stamp set from the 2020 Mini Catalogue to create the flower outlines. These were stamped and embossed on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper by sprinkling the powder over the heat embossed images then spritzing with water to create the wash effect. The die cut leaves are from the Poppy Moments Dies.  Each person's finished product was unique and it was lovely to see the variety achieved.

The second card, used the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set (a freebee from the 2020 Sale-a-Bration catalogue.)  We spritzed the paper first and then sprinkled the pigment on the wet surface. To achieve the better coverage on the Lily, we used an Aqua Painter with the sprinkles to smooth out the colour more.  We painted each petal individually with water, sprinkled on the crystals, and either left them to spread or filled them in with the Aqua painter.

The last card we made in class, used the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set and White Embossing Powder to create the outline of the butterfly. For this card we sprinkled the pigment onto a clear block, and again used the aqua painter to pick up  the colour to paint the butterfly and wash effect for the background.  This allows a more subtle colour result as the Pigment Sprinkles are a very vibrant type of ink.

My Inaugural Retreat

On December 1st I geld my first ever day retreat.  15 ladies booked in for a day of crafting fun.  I had a fun time getting it all ready - I love getting these types of events organised.

I booked a room in a local hotel.

This was on each person's table when they arrived.

My brother in law had made these beautiful wooden card stands for each attendee and I made the name cards.

Each lady had their own table although next time I'll be adding a bit more room for them to put their 'stuff' on.

I took along spare cardstock, inks, stamps and embossing folders and dies for the ladies to use.

And I had several displays to inspire them.

Plus a raffle of fun goodies.

Everyone received a box of goodies which they used to make their make and takes.

The make and takes are on the left and then I had samples of the same layout on the right as inspiration.

I had a couple of optional classes/demos throughout the day.

Otherwise we spent the day crafting and chatting together!

Here's a quick sampling of some of the projects that were underway.

The ladies went home at the end of the day with lots of projects completed and a swag of goodies and pillow gifts.

The mini pizza box was the gift at the end of the day!  I had cookies made by a local lady.

Specially made, apple shaped cookies saying "Thanks for stamping with me".

I had a fantastic day and the attendees did too!  I hope they got plenty of jobs ticked off.
I will definitely be planning another for next year.

Thanks to everyone who came!
